Oficina Shanti - Made in Travelling...
It´s a project of Rafaela and Filipa two free spirits who aspire to travel and find out ethnic textiles, patterns and unique techniques of printing from all over the world hoping to share the amazing vibrations of each place through exclusive and modern creations.
We intend to find natural materials and if possible organic, that are produced in a susteinable way, folowing the values of fair trade. We invest in textiles made by hand and by local craftspeople and we like to get to know them and their story and to share it with you. Our creations are design by us and are inspired in our travels, people, food and adventures we experienced.
The cultural fusion of both Eastern and Western worlds result in collections where mandalas, cornucopias, colors and textures of the Orient stands out but with the modern and exclusive style of the Western world.
MADE IN TRAVELLING COLLECTIONS
Namaste Collection (India, 2014) we used textiles from Indian, 100% cotton. The patterns found in the fabrics were produced using an ancient technique of Indian design and printing - the Block Print. Wooden blocks are tailored specifically for each patern being manually printed with natural inks, giving a unique and handmade touch to each piece, as you can see in our Cushion | Bed Covers | Yoga mat Bags.
Himalayas Collection (Nepal, 2014) you will find soft and warm wool from the Yaks that can be found throughout the Himalayan region, in countries such as Nepal, Tibet, Mongolia and Russia. The yak wool has been used for centuries by the people of these regions to protect themselves from the cold of the mountains. To make our winter more cozy and special, we have created waistcoats, scarves, ponchos and gowns for the all family, unique products that merge all these ethnic differences.
Thai Collection (Thailand, 2016), you will find the Indigo Tie Dye in many pieces of our colections. The Indigo is a natural dye that comes from a plant called Indigosfera and it can only be used in natural textiles. It has been used for centuries to dye clothes all around the globe, specially on Thailand. The Batik is the other 5star technique that we discovered in Thailand and together with a group of women from Chiang Mai we created scarves. Our Handmade Shoes are a collaboration with a group of artisans from a small town near Bangkok.
